Thompson Valley High School’s Cheerleading team won the 4A State Championship in co-ed cheerleading at the Colorado High School Activities Association Spirit Competition. Their final score was 88.9. The 20-member co-ed team had an undefeated season.

TVHS Senior Earns All-American Status at Nike Cross Nationals
Thompson Valley High School senior Dylan Schubert earned All-American status in cross country. He broke the 15-minute threshold and placed fifth overall at the Nike Cross Southwest Regional competition to qualify for nationals, then went on to become an All-American by finishing within the top 20 racers (14th) with a 15:20 performance at the Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon. Schubert is the first All-American in TVHS’s cross country history.

MVHS Model UN Wins Award at MUN Conference

The Mountain View High School Model UN attended the MUN Conference at Kent Denver. All seven participants won awards and accumulated points for MVHS Model UN to win Best Overall Small Delegation. Justin Grundy, Ashley Campbell, Eloise Nelson and Cordelia Bowlus all won Best Delegates in their conferences while Magdalena McKee, Olivia Friske and Hunter Todd won Honorable Mentions in their conferences.

MVHS Senior Crowned Miss Loveland Valentine 2020
Mountain View High School senior Ashley Arthur was crowned Miss Loveland Valentine 2020 by the Loveland Chamber of Commerce and Thompson Valley Rotary Club during a luncheon at House of Neighborly Service. Miss Loveland Valentine candidates are nominated by school administrators for being peer leaders and having at least a 3.0 GPA and plans to attend college in the coming year. The candidates gave a three-minute speech on the topic “Loveland, My Community,” submitted a 300- to 500-word essay and completed an interview before a panel of five judges. The winner is expected to be an active member of the community in both service and spirit, to speak in front of the Colorado Senate during Valentine’s season, to kick off Loveland’s annual valentine remailing program and more.

MVHS Student Chosen for All State Jazz Choir

Alexa Rodriguez is Mountain View High School’s first All State Jazz Choir participant. She participated in a four-hour callback at Smoky Hill and will sing in the 16-person All State Jazz Treble Choir. She will rehearse and perform at the Broadmoor Hotel with world renowned jazz musicians the last weekend of January.

Loveland High School’s Crimson Regiment was named 2019 4A State Champion by the Colorado Bandmasters Association. Due to inclement weather, the final championship event was canceled. CBA awarded all of the semifinalist bands their placements from the regional competition. The Crimson Regiment took first place with a score of 86.45.

BHS Cheerleader on All American Team
Berthoud High School cheerleader Juliet Babyak was chosen to be a member of the Universal Cheerleader Association’s All American Team. The high school senior has been invited to join other cheerleaders from across the United States to perform in London’s New Year’s Day parade. The athletes will practice on their own over the next two months and only have one day to practice together before the parade. Babyak tried out for the All American Team over the summer during a Universal Cheerleaders Association camp at Colorado State University and was one of only a few from Colorado to make the team after performing jumps, a dance routine and a cheer piece.

Safeway Foundation Award Benefits TSD Families in Need

The Safeway Foundation awarded Thompson School District with a $1,000 gift and then surprised officials by increasing it to $2,000. The holiday fundraiser sponsored by Safeway helps provide holiday dinners to local families in need. The Loveland Rotary KidsPak Program is hoping to provide 500 meals to area families this holiday season.

TVHS Senior Takes Second at Cross Country State Championships
Thompson Valley High School senior Dylan Schubert took second place in the Class 4A Colorado High School Cross Country State Championships at the Norris Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs. Schubert’s foot was stepped on with about three-quarters of a mile left on the course and his shoe popped off. Schubert kept going and finished with a time of 15:48.5.
