  • MVHS Students to Represent FBLA Colorado at National Conference

    The following Mountain View High School students will represent FBLA Colorado at the National Leadership Conference in San Antonio: Katana Rivette, Business Law; Aiden Kaufman, Introduction to FBLA; and Luke Beukelman, Coding and Programming.

  • LHS Teams Place at Color Guard State Competition

    Loveland High School’s varsity winter guard placed second and the junior varsity team placed third in their respective divisions at the Rocky Mountain Color Guard Association’s state competition at the University of Denver. The varsity team scored 91.78 points, less than one point behind first-place Legacy High School. The junior varsity team scored 89.49 points.

  • Teachers Receive Windows on the World Travel Grants

    Thompson Education Foundation awarded two Windows on the World (WOW) Travel Grants to Thompson School District teachers. Aspen Lindley, a kindergarten teacher at Sarah Milner Elementary School, and Kristie Livermore, a family and consumer science teacher at Mountain View High School, each received $3,500 to travel during the summer and bring real-world experiences back to their classrooms. Lindley will travel to South Africa and Livermore to Paris, France. The WOW Travel Grant is sponsored by Jeff and Mary Hiatt through the Hiatt Family Fund of the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado and Greg and Tracy Roller.

  • TSD Staff Receive 2019 Educator of the Year Awards

    Six Thompson School District staff members received 2019 Educator of the Year awards from Thompson Education Foundation at its annual Educator Appreciation Breakfast. Students, parents and coworkers nominated 82 educators across four different categories. The recipients were:

    –TSD Staff Members of the Year – Margaret Skrobacz, early childhood speech pathologist, Berthoud/Turner Early Childhood Center, and Jen Schwab, counselor, Mountain View High School

    n

    –Elementary Educator of the Year – Annamarie Pike, kindergarten teacher, Berthoud Elementary School

    n

    –Secondary Educator of the Year – Christine Marshall, mathematics teacher, Loveland High School

    n

    –Principal Educator of the Year – Rick Bowles, principal, Ivy Stockwell Elementary School

    n

    An overall recipient was chosen from all four categories:

    –Thompson Education Foundation Educator of the Year – Michael Pintaric, technology and engineering teacher, Loveland High School

    n

    Category winners were awarded a 60-day vehicle lease and the TEF Educator of the Year was awarded a two-year vehicle lease from King Buick GMC. Each recipient also received a $200 gift card from Thompson Education Foundation.

  • BHS Knowledge Bowl Team Places at State Competition

    The Berthoud High School Knowledge Bowl team took second place in the Colorado Knowledge Bowl 4A state competition at Colorado State University. BHS finished with 198 points, just one point behind champion Roosevelt High School (199 points) and well ahead of third-place Palmer Ridge High School (185 points). The BHS team consisted of seniors Ben Domenico, Abbi Franke and Kevin Schnedecker and sophomore Ellie Sundheim. The two-day state championship had teams answering 60 written questions and 50 oral questions with a 15-second time limit to submit their responses. The questions were challenging and most involved some measure of problem solving and piecing together information from multiple knowledge bases.

  • BHS Team Qualifies for VEX Robotics Worlds Competition

    Three Berthoud High School robotics teams were among 100 teams to compete in the Colorado High School VEX Robotics Championship in Parker. Team 1069E, also known as Critical Mass, won the Excellence Award and qualified for the worlds competition being held in Louisville, Kentucky, this year. The Excellence Award, the highest a team can earn, is given for competition placement, teamwork robot design and professional presentation.

  • TSD Teams Place at Regional Destination Imagination Tournament

    Over a dozen Thompson School District teams competed in the Regional Destination Imagination Tournament in Louisville. The following teams qualified for the state tournament: Flash Foxes from Truscott Elementary School who took 1st place in the elementary level service learning challenge; The Constellations from Centennial Elementary School who took 3rd place in the elementary level improvement challenge; and We Couldn’t Decide from Lucile Erwin Middle School who took 3rd place in the middle school level scientific challenge.

  • TVHS Student Named Youth of the Year by Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County

    Addison Clause, a Thompson Valley High School sophomore, was named Youth of the Year by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County at a breakfast ceremony at Embassy Suites. She was awarded a $3,000 scholarship. Clause was the West Loveland Club Youth of the Year. Other honored youths included Kailee Verdeyen, a Mountain View High School freshman, who was the Loveland-Pulliam Club Youth of the Year. Club winners competed in the annual Youth of the Year competition in which 11 Junior and Senior Youths of the Year from seven different clubs across the county presented two-minute speeches in front of a panel of judges and a room full of 50 guests. The Youth of the Year competition is a national Boys & Girls Clubs of America initiative that aims to foster a new generation of leaders.

  • TSD Students Place in Longs Peak Regional Science & Engineering Fair

    Thompson School District students competed in the Longs Peak Regional Science & Engineering Fair in Greeley. Over 300 students from Weld and Larimer counties participated. State qualifiers have the opportunity to compete at the Colorado State Science Fair. The following TSD students received awards at the regional fair:
