LHS Student Earns Silver Congressional Award Medal

Loveland High School freshman Egan Bauersfeld earned a silver Congressional Award medal. He previously earned the bronze medal and now has set his sights on gold. In order to achieve the silver medal, Bauersfeld was required to perform 200 hours of public service as well as invest 100 hours each in physical fitness and personal development. The final requirement was a two-night, three-day exploration trip. Similar requirements applied to the bronze medal. The gold medal requires twice as many hours of each requirement. The Congressional Award program is open to anyone starting at age 13½, and they have until age 24 to complete the gold medal requirements. About 500 gold medals are awarded nationwide each year.
