Addison Clause, a Thompson Valley High School sophomore, was named Youth of the Year by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County at a breakfast ceremony at Embassy Suites. She was awarded a $3,000 scholarship. Clause was the West Loveland Club Youth of the Year. Other honored youths included Kailee Verdeyen, a Mountain View High School freshman, who was the Loveland-Pulliam Club Youth of the Year. Club winners competed in the annual Youth of the Year competition in which 11 Junior and Senior Youths of the Year from seven different clubs across the county presented two-minute speeches in front of a panel of judges and a room full of 50 guests. The Youth of the Year competition is a national Boys & Girls Clubs of America initiative that aims to foster a new generation of leaders.
