Two teams of Truscott Elementary School 5th graders placed 1st and 2nd in the Colorado Stock Market Experience. The students, who studied financial literacy as part of the curriculum through Economic Literacy Colorado, competed in the non-mentored category. After six weeks of tending their virtual $100,000 portfolio, Fernanda Villegas and Christopher “Topher” Page won 1st place in the state for elementary schools. Their classmates, Nilah Turner and Caini “Jen” Yang, won 2nd place in the Northern Colorado region. Students from Carrie Martin Elementary and Stansberry Elementary schools participated in the same contest in the category for students with a business mentor. (See article below.)
