This year, the first that Thompson School District is offering a Seal of Biliteracy, 55 students achieved the necessary level of proficiency across six different languages to have the seal on their diploma. The seal is earned by reaching national criteria marks for a high level of proficiency in at least two languages. Two students, Jorge Quinones and Juan Acevedo Martinez, achieved the seal for English, Spanish and French for 57 total seals. Of the students who received the Seal of Biliteracy, 18 started with English as their second language and 33 grew up speaking English and learned another language through their schooling.
